First of all it is necessary to clean your car engine. You can do this with simple hand brush also. The idea is to remove any excess of debris inside the hood and other openings. This means it can be ventilators. It can be grills. If you have compressed air then use it at this stage to remove dead leaves etc. Now net step will be to prepare your engine before wetting it. You have to wash this engine. But before that you will have to take certain precautions to protect some parts from the water. Any electrical device will have to be protected from the water. The spark plug opening has to be protected from water. All the sensors must be protected from getting wet. Cover all these electrical items with the plastic baggies. Use tapes to hold these plastic bags at proper places. You can also use rubber bands for the same purpose. Note that we are interested in making these plastic bags water proof. This is just a way of giving protection to electrical devices.

Now start the engine. It will get hot. Now is the time for loosening the accumulated grease. Now apply the degreaser to the engine. You should start from the lower areas and work up to upper areas. Note that this degreaser will also remove the wax from the painted surfaces in your car. You will have to re wax those areas afterwards. Allow the degreaser to be on the engine for three to five minutes. This will help to soak the grease. Then use the brush for heavy soil and use some car wash solution also.

Now if you are ready for hosing then wash with plenty of water all the degreaser.

Allow the engine to get air dried. You can use compressed air to blow of the remaining water particles. After drying completely, apply the engine protectant to the engine. Also protect the rubber pipes or vinyl pipes with appropriate protectants. This is short summary of this auto engine detailing process.
