How To Locate A Substance Abuse Program If You Are Caught Driving Under The Influence In Las Vegas
The potential consequences of driving under the influence are well documented and are taught to children when they are still in short pants. Unfortunately, there are many who choose to ignore these consequences and get behind the wheel of a car after partaking too freely of alcoholic beverages. This often results in damage to various properties, both vehicular and otherwise, and injury to both the driver and the occupants of any other vehicles with which the inebriated driver is involved in an accident.
While the consequences of driving under the influence in the state of Nevada vary according to the number of times the driver has been guilty of the offense and the severity of the consequences resulting from the inebriated driver getting behind the wheel, almost everyone who is caught driving under the influence is going to be required to enroll in a substance abuse program. It can be very difficult to find a good substance abuse program. Chances are that when a driver appears before a judge who rules that the driver must attend a substance abuse program one will probably be recommended, particularly if the driver does not live in the area.
If a program is not recommended by the judge there are several means by which a driver can locate the name of a reputable one. The simplest method would be to speak to an officer of the court, whether it be the judge or a police officer, following the hearing. The local Department of Social Services will also be able to recommend a good substance abuse program, as can The Health Department. Drivers also have the option of trolling through the Yellow Pages. Here will be listed substance abuse programs for every type of substance, and it should be fairly simple for the driver to find one that is endorsed by the courts for those who are convicted of driving under the influence.
If a driver chooses to attend a program other than one suggested by the court it is important to make sure that this program is endorsed by the courts. Otherwise, a driver may find themselves paying the money to attend, completing the program and then finding out it was for nothing because the court will not accept it as part of their rehabilitation.
